About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Voice Infrastructure Engineer to own the systems that keep Voxworks fast, secure, and reliable at scale. This is a hands-on software and infrastructure role focused on the core layers behind AI voice: real-time audio infrastructure, telephony integrations, networking, security, observability, and the scaling systems that let us serve more customers without degrading call quality.
You'll work close to the product and voice engineering teams, but your mandate is platform depth: make the underlying stack resilient, low-latency, and production-ready.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and operate the infrastructure that powers real-time AI voice workloads in production
- Own telephony and voice networking across SIP, trunks, call routing, media paths, failover, and carrier integrations
- Improve platform reliability with stronger observability, alerting, incident response, and operational tooling
- Harden the stack across network security, secrets management, access control, and production safeguards
- Scale systems for higher call volumes, lower latency, and more predictable performance under load
- Work across application, infrastructure, and networking layers to diagnose call quality, packet loss, latency, and uptime issues
- Build internal tools and automation for deployment, provisioning, testing, and production operations
- Partner with engineering leadership on architecture decisions, capacity planning, and infrastructure roadmap
What We're Looking For
- Strong software engineering background with production experience in infrastructure-heavy systems
- Experience running cloud infrastructure in AWS or similar environments
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals, security principles, and distributed systems operations
- Experience with telephony, VoIP, SIP, RTP, WebRTC, or adjacent real-time communications systems
- Proven ability to scale backend or platform systems while maintaining reliability and performance
- Comfort owning critical production infrastructure end to end, including on-call and incident response
- Strong debugging instincts across code, infra, and network boundaries
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI voice, speech, low-latency media, or real-time audio systems
- Familiarity with carrier operations, SBCs, direct routing, or telecom vendor integrations
- Experience with compliance, auditability, and secure handling of sensitive customer data
- Background in platform engineering, site reliability, or DevSecOps in a startup environment
